Just a short distance from downtown Pec pod Sněžkou starts the narrow valley of Zelený důl (Green Mine). The trail leads gently around several cascades and small waterfalls. After two and a half kilometres, the valley widens suddenly, because tens of thousands of years ago an alpine glacier delved a wide glacier basin here. On the most level place, alpine loggers, who colonised the east Krkonoše Mountains in the 16th Century, founded the picturesque meadow enclave of Jelení louka with three mountain cabins. Today, you will be delighted to enjoy the hospitality of the original inn, with a tradition dating back to 1731.
